Katharine McPhee je še ena pop izvajalka, ki svoj uspeh dolguje glasbenim resničnostnim šovom. Katherine je leta 2006 v šovu American Idol osvojila drugo mesto in prepričala Simona Fullerja, ustvarjalca tega šova in menendžerja številnih pop skupin, da jo je vzel pod svoje okrilje. Leta 2007 je objavila istoimenski prvenec, ki ni bil ravno uspešen, čeprav je danes šestindvajsetletna pevka z njim osvojila drugo mesto ameriške lestvice. Verjetno bi Katharine danes že potonila v pozabo, če ne bi hkrati gradila tudi kariere televizijske oziroma filmske igralke.
